What is a Event Bodyguard ?
Event security or bodyguards are responsible for the safety and protection of someone at risk, important or in the public eye, during an event, concert or evening celebration.
Due to the type of clientele who require protection (e.g. celebrity, political figure etc.), event security and bodyguards must ensure that they are safe from kidnapping, assassination and harassment during an event.
A bodyguard could work within a team, and could be licensed and fully trained to carry weapons for protective reasons.

What are the responsibilities of Event Bodyguards ?
Evaluation of threats
The most important aspect of a bodyguard’s role is to evaluate all possible threats for the client. This will help them to avoid situations which may put the client and their family in danger. The bodyguard needs to be well prepared in advance of the client’s movements and plan out the journey route, any locations which may pose a threat on the client’s safety. The bodyguard needs to be able to present an itinerary after having evaluated all the possible risks.
Escorting
A bodyguard must accompany the client everywhere and must continually survey the area, looking it for any potential danger (crowds, traffic etc.). They should also stay in contact with the rest of the security team reporting any security breaches or suspect activity before reacting to the danger themselves.
The bodyguard should also be able to drive their clients in urgent situations and must have advanced driving skills, to ensure that they are able to make a quick exit.
Protection
A bodyguard must protect the client in any situation, and must therefore be physically fit enough to defend the client against any attack. A bodyguard would usually benefit from mastering a martial art however, this is not an essential requirement.
Bodyguard must be able to create reports on unusual or suspect daily activity, such as equipment, non-authorised persons or any unusual events. They must also have a full knowledge of laws and regulations, and any court or political procedures relevant to the client (i.e. if the client works in politics).
